RE: New Mattress Question

One of the best investments we made was a $90, 2 inch memory foam topper. What a difference! That may be an alternative to buying a new mattress.

RE: question about camping...What do you think???

So, to read this thread, you would think that many of you were never kids! Sorry gang, but not all of you (including myself) were perfectly behaved little gentlemen or ladies... And not all of us watched our kids every moment of the day, especially when they were 9 or 10 and riding there bikes around the campground. When I was young, we camped all the time, and I was most definately taught to respect other campers... But I was also a kid, and I am sure I cut through many a site while chasing or being chased by my brothers, or riding my bike through a cool ditch or heading to the fishin hole! And when your 8, walking waaaaaay around a campsite just takes too much time.
Thank you for being honest and realistic. I generally camp in the bush. I wonder if I should start a thread to complain about the deer and squirrels cuttin' thru our site? heehee

RE: Silly ? about leaving TT hitched

I put down the tongue jack to stabilize things and release the tesion on the spring bars. No need to maintain the strain on them needlessly.
do the same
Unnecessary I think, as they are spring steel like the tv suspension. You are then unloading all weight onto the back of the tv. I dont think it can hurt the hitch bars

RE: particle board on as a subfloor? forest river. Flagstaff

many homes also have particle underlay. I worked at a hardware store and it was not much difference in price. They say it is as good as plywood.

RE: Newbie: How do I remove the races?

I use my welder to burn a bead around the inner face of the race. When the weld starts to cool, the metal shrinks, and shrinks the race with it. Then it practically falls out. Then I clean the hub well, and repack. This method only works with a "cup" style race. For a "cone" race, simply heat the whole race with a good torch to swell the metal, and hammer it off.

RE: ELECTRIC AWNING PROBLEMS

You may have rolled it in backwards. My carefree travel'r will extend and then start rolling up backward if I keep on the button. look to see if the awning is rolled above or below the roller. It should be above.

RE: Please Turn Down The Television!

leave the dogs home, leave the teley home , leave the kids at home....
I go camping to enjoy those things I find relaxing. If you dont like it, CAMP ELSEWHERE! Sure there must be a small amount of courtesy, but what the guy three sites down is *****in' about, doesn't seem to bother the folks next door, or across the way, see what I mean? we do our best I guess?
whatever.

RE: The Blue Tote

as a quick fix you could wrap duct tape around the plastic wheels. I did this to increase traction on my kids power wheels and it quieted them down on the gravel and concrete as it made a cushion

RE: Smaller bunkhouse trailer - recommendations?

also have a look at a tango 257BH It is a nice tt 1/2 ton towable with a folding queen/couch at the front. We seriously looked at this model and thought it was very well built.

RE: '08 Jayco JayFlight G2 23FB

I would compare the 23 fb g2 and the 22 fb jay flight. exact same tt, but decide if the television and elec awning are worth the difference in price.
It's not just the television and awning that make the difference between the two. There are other standards on the G2 that are not on the regular Jayflight including additional cabinet space over the kitchen/sofa area, residential style doors in bathroom etc. There are a lot more "standards" on the G2 than on the Jayflight than just a tv and awning.
I myself would buy the G2 model.
I am very happy with our tt. The Maxistor door and enclosed underbelly were the options that made the difference in our decision. I would have prefered a manual awning as you cant adjust the electric one. I was just saying that one should take a close comparison of the two to see if the package warrants the price. It was a $3000 MSRP difference at my dealership. Without the Maxistor, that is not available on the 23fb, I dont think I would have opted for the G2 model.

RE: Parking on slope?

question, when stored on a slope and the nose is lowered to semi level,is undue stress put on the high side axle? the front springs would be compressed and the rears extended somewhat, therefore more weight on the front axle. I wouldnt think this would be an issue, but I read that you shouldnt level by pushing one wheel of a tandem on to a block and leave the other on the ground? Thoughts?

RE: New Jayco via RV Direct / Des Moines RV - Delivery Report

Good thing you got a Jayco and not a Forest River. This is what Forest River web site says :::::: "Forest River, Inc. strongly encourages our retail customers to purchase from their local dealership whenever possible due to the following factors:
Our Dealers are as a rule, independently owned and operated businesses. Outside of those customers they personally sold products to, they are not contractually obligated to perform warranty service on Forest River products that were purchased elsewhere. There may be an occasion that you would be required to return to the point of purchase to satisfy warranty requirements.."
That is why I will never buy a Forest river product! I would not own equipment that has no service behind it. I buy tires at Kal Tire because my account is good across Canada. I buy kenworth trucks because the service is equal thru-out north america. I would have bought my jayco at any dealer that would be most cost effective. Does the fact that I drove by three dealerships closer to my home to where I bought the camper make me wrong? Jayco will approve warranty at the shop of my preference so I will appreciate their product. A dealership that snubs me for where I bought the camper will never see me in for parts, service, trade or leak on the place if it was burnin up!

RE: Rim Rust Warranty?

autosol metal polish is non abrasive and works excellent for taking rust "flowers" off. Regular use will keep your wheels looking new. As for warranty, if I bought those wheels for my car or pick-up I would be taking them back for new ones.
